Tuesday Performance Tip

GET OFF THE X! General Patton once said, “A good plan violently executed now is better than a great plan next week”.

We make decisions all day every day. Most are simple: What do I want for lunch, where should I park, should I hide this body in my deep freezer…?

But some decisions are significant and affect more than just your own personal bubble. Too often today, people are hesitating to act and are waiting for someone to tell them what to do. When this pandemic is over, you will be able to recognize those that acted or didn’t because they will be thriving, still trying to figure it out or gone. Whether in your personal life or professional life; it doesn’t have to be the perfect decision, but it has to at least get you off the X.

In combat, the X is the spot you’re on that mark’s imminent danger. It’s the location enemy forces plan to attack or ambush you. It is no different in life, but the enemy is time, money, resources, competition, and uncertainty. If you stay put, you will surely die, but if you make the slightest movement and ADAPT to the situation, you will disrupt the enemy’s plan and force them to now adapt to your new position.

As the General states above, it doesn’t have to be the perfect plan. It just has to move you and your team off the X and start moving you is some direction – away from the X. You can always correct your course once you get moving. But don’t wait until next week. Make a decision RIGHT NOW to buy yourself more opportunities to make more decisions in the future. Make no decisions and feel the consequences. Remember the world needs HITTERS!
Quote of the Day “The best time to plant a tree is 10 years ago. The second-best time is right now”.
