This is a saying in the Teams that everybody hears on a regular basis. It means maintaining readiness, projecting power, and keeping the legend alive, even when, especially when, you don’t feel up to it. Sure, there are guys that do impressive work, but even when you take a breather to pat yourself on the back, it’s important to remember that there are no free passes; If you want to set the Standard for others to follow, if you want to be admired by peers, appreciated by superiors, and glowing with the self-satisfaction of performing up to your potential, you’ve got to pay your dues…and the invoice is due, every. single. day.
On top of that, surround yourself with like-minded people that will hold you accountable and will expect you to do the same. Now you are generating exponential impact.
No doubt about it, we are living in strange days. For a lot of people that means hunker down and wait for “normal”. Newsflash, normal has left the building. The world outside your door has evolved, your approach must evolve. Someone is going to be at the top of the food chain, and that spot is, and always has been, reserved for those who earn it.
So get out there and get you some, do it today, because the world needs hitters.
